Some behind the scenes this week of my shoot with Bluefly at Coney Island. Everyone got a little red, but such a good crew and so much fun! Images by my lovely and talented intern Charlotte, who is here from Germany. Art Directed by Lindsey Gice. (and keeping us company, so many gramps getting their tan on while working out by the waves. had to get one of these photos in)
After a day in studio shooting Steven Alan Men's and listening to some amazing 80's mixes throughout the day, Suzy and I get inspired to make a home movie.
Last year at Bonnaroo I shot a few polaroids of one of my favorite artists, Bon Iver, after he had just played to a completely packed crowd. He was hanging out backstage, surrounded by people, Drew Barrymore was fawning over him. I grabbed him when he had a down moment, and shot as many pictures as I could. In our few minutes of small talk he said he was on the tail end of touring, and he was off on a break to write music. I asked, more work after so much work? He said, writing music isn't work, it's vacation. He was so humble, so awed at the amount of people at his show, so sweet and sincere. This morning I saw a video of his made by la blogotheque and it made me think back to my encounter with him last year. Bon Iver is amazing.
If you're in the NYC area this weekend, Mike and I are having a studio garage sale. Tons of prints, T-shirts, tote bags and zines. Cheap cheap! Come by with your friends, have a beer and hang out! Today, tomorrow and Sunday. 6/11 - 6/13 from 10am - 5pm every day.

Check out this cute music interview and pics of my studio on the Herman Miller Blog! And yes there is some D'Angelo and Sade on my playlist, I'm not apologizing!
The last few weeks have been insanely busy. I'm so happy when I'm shooting, but it's not so great for keeping up with the blog (not to mention sleep, exercise or eating well). Love how The Ace Hotel is tucked away under these mountains. If you get lucky, you time it so you're drinking a Mojito by the pool right when the sun is setting. Bam. Perfect life.
This was a long week full of production and shoots. It's Friday and I finally have a moment to sit down and edit. In the mix was this super cute shot of Hartje from Trump Models. It was a beautiful day, but kind of chilly, and here she is in between shots, warming up with a big blanket from my house.
About to do a small poster promo run with this image from the Lewis Lookbook I just shot. The poster will be only 2 color, and what was once a super warm image now just feels like the ocean.
